How is your summer going so far?
As August rolls in, I have so many new energy and ideas (somehow I feel more active in August than June and July combined 😁).
I want to share a brand new Sunday ritual right away with you in this week’s newsletter. Let’s celebrate the new month, new energy, and just a little bit new corner of your inbox 🤗.
This new Sunday ritual series will feature a quick 3-2-1 Deutschlernen recap like this one on MyA5Gram, one “special something” for you to try out at the end of the letter, and whatever’s happening behind the scenes at MyA5Corner.
Simple, short, and I have high hopes that they’d be worthy the five minutes of your Sunday. Let’s begin.
THIS WEEK’S 3-2-1 DEUTSCHLERNEN
3 — Mistakes I made (so you don’t have to):
alles vs. alle:
alles = everything (one big thing, a single noun).
alle = everyone (all the people, a plural collective noun).
Here’s a memory clue: “Passt alles für alle?” — does everything work for everyone?
One sentence, both words, no more mix-up excuses. 😉
eine Beziehung mit vs. zu:
Both signal a relationship, but BE CAREFUL:
zu is your default setting:
- eine gute Beziehung zu meiner Schwester. — a good relationship with my sister.
Swap in mit, and suddenly it’s romantic and official:
- eine Beziehung mit ihrem Kollegen — a (romantic) relationship with her supervisor 🫣
Anerkennung vs. Erkennung:
Both translate to “recognition” in English so naturally I mixed them up multiple times at first.
Anerkennung = credit, appreciation, social respect, a praise or a pat on the back:
- Er bekam viel Anerkennung für seine Arbeit — He received a lot of appreciation for his work.
Erkennung = detection, identification, and rarely stands alone like in this compound noun:
- Gesichtserkennung = facial recognition.

Learn German with one of my favorite Instagrammer Study German Daily with Nita (for B & C Levels):
Nita makes gentle, easy-to-understand and useful short reel episodes. They are perfect if you want to learn advanced vocabulary (and by that I also mean, vocabulary with many traps of looking or sounding alike but meaning completely different).
1 — Idea:
Start a Collection in your bullet journal — or carry a tiny notebook with you — just to collect beautiful words. Beautiful because of their meanings, or their sounds, or because of their invisible resonance with you.
Be it German, English or words in whatever language you’re learning, this little “haul” builds and strengthens your affection with the target language in a fun and beautiful way.
If you’re not learning a new language right now and following my content for Bullet Journal only, try this idea with favorite words in your own mother language instead.
